Vaughncraft has been bending wood for over 30 years, initially with our world renowned tambourines. Through trial and error and advances in technology, VaughnCraft has continually developed the craft of steam-bending drum shells, and raised the bar of solid snare drums.
An exciting development at VaughnCraft is the addition of drumset sizes to our solid shell offerings. We can now build custom-built solid drumset shells in almost any configuration, from a tiny 6 tom to a gargantuan 24 bass drum. All shells are of superior quality and, if necessary, the woods are bookmatched, meaning there is no need to hide seams with inlay or other decorative means. No matter the size, the tonal range and rich timbre of solid wood far surpasses that of the typical ply shell. |

All shells come standard with maple reinforcement rings installed.
Bearing Edges and Snare Beds are available for an additional fee. |

| The Sound of Solid |
Though it is IMPOSSIBLE to describe what each shell will sound like, we have general assumptions about the different woods that we bend.
*Softer woods will be darker, lower pitched, and will have a long sustain.
*Harder woods will be brighter, high pitched, and will have a more focused sustain.

| Buying a Shell |
There are THREE ways to purchase the shell of your dreams from Vaughncraft Percussion:
1. Check the IN STOCK section to purchase an already made, in stock shell that will ship out within days of your order.
2. Order a standard size, 14" shell from the E-store, and we will custom build your shell with a two to three week lead time.
3. E-mail, call, or fax the factory and get a quote on custom sizes or drum sets. If you can dream it, we can build it. |
