Vaughncraft Cajons
The cajon is Spanish for "box", " crate" or "drawer". In a box-shape and Peruvian in origin, the cajon is played by slapping the front surface. It is the most widely used Peruvian instrument in the 20th century. Gaining popularity in the "acoustic" club circuit, it is heard quite often in Flamenco music and other "world" styles.

Vaughncraft manufactures cajons in both the tradional (without strings) and the modern style (with strings to create a snare-like effect). Although our standard size is 12"x14"x18", special sizes are available through custom order.

The veneer fronts are available in a variety of breathtaking species including Birdseye maple, flame maple, quilted maple, figured ash, mottled sapele and many others. Special veneers available upon request.

Our cajons are visually striking, extremely musical and comfortable. Vaughncraft is the first manufacturer to use a padded seat, adding comfort to extended playing situations.
